Innovations and Calculated Risks in the EHR industry

For most of us, we have seen the computer grow from a simple soup of vacuum tubes and wires into a complex intelligent ecosystem that changes by the second. Technology vendors who do not adapt to the changes and will of the new ecosystem will be soon on the list of endangered species.

Cloud-EHR

Is it difficult to adapt to the changes or identify key trends which will help an organization to survive and grow? So how do we identify technological disruption and for that matter and what is innovation?

Transition is painful.

Like human beings, organizations also find it difficult to embrace change.  Unlearning and then adopting innovative solutions poses difficulties for people, processes, and products involved.   Similarly, electronic health record developed earlier were typically a LAN based C/S model, but now it is necessary to have a cloud based multi-tenant model.  The diversity of cloud platforms is enormous and development applications are ensuring ease of use, regulatory compliance and efficiency for the end user.

New Skills and Redesigning.

These architectures and technologies bring in set of new and different skills; therefore, the right team and redesigning of architecture is essential to making the transition less painful.  Sometimes the whole organization and its approach has to change to adapt to these innovations and compete for people and product positioning constantly.  In response to these developing skills, competitive advantages have a significantly smaller shelf life.
